Tarp Tie Outs
I will be building a poncho tarp this week end and I'm in the design phase now. I hit a roadblock when I came to the tie outs and how i would reinforce them. The tarp will be 5x10 (one piece) and have a total of 12 tie outs (2 rigdeline, 4 corner, and 3 on each side). I plan on simply hemming the edges. I'm assuming the side tie outs will not have to be reinforced, but I think i might need to reinforce the corners and the ridgeline. I need to reinforce the corners because the tarp will be pitched diagonally over my hammock. The other tie outs are for converting it to ground tarp mode. Here are some examples I have found:

Hanger,
One suggestion I'd like to make is to not have the loop extending out past the corner too far. It could get caught on things when wearing it as a poncho (ask me how I know) Just a simple double row of zig zag stitches across will help distribute the tension pretty well. I've never added extra fabric in the corners since it will already be on a double layer where you've folded it over. Hope that helps, Perkolady |

Man I wish I could sew like that. Nice job. I have got to learn how to sew and save myself some money.

Well as much as I'd like to take credit for those pictures, I didn't sew any of those. They are just examples of different methods I plan on using on my tarp.

I would probably go with the middle photo for your corner tie-outs, the bottom for the ridgeline, and the top photo for all the others.
