I love hammocks. My first and favorite shelter for backpacking was a hammock, and I almost never leave home without one in my pack. I have found hammocks to be a must for me on day-hikes. There are few things better than stopping at an alpine lake for lunch, all the while lounging in a hammock and taking in the views. For day-hikes I prefer a hammock that is open with no bug netting for ease of entry and the best viewing experience.
