How to Add a Zip Vent to a Jacket

I love my Sierra Designs rain shell so much yet there was always one little thing I wished for, pit vents. If you are interested in adding a zipper in a seam for venting, here's how I did it.

Items needed as shown below are:
jacket, zipper (I used 7" you may need longer), scissors, seam ripper, straight pins, zipper foot if sewing by machine. You can see in this photo one pit that has already had the zipper added and one unvented pit.
