PBP Episode 27 - Gossamer Gear

PBP Episode 27 - Gossamer Gear

Quote:
In this episode I had the pleasure of interviewing Glen Van Peski, Founder and Chairman, of Gossamer Gear.

For more than a decade, Glen and his ultralight manufacturing company has been helping an ever-growing number of weight-conscious backpackers move closer to the "light."

Gossamer Gear is headquarted in Austin, Texas, and produces innovative and affordable ultralight packs, shelters, sleeping gear, and backpacking accessories.

Listen in to pick up some of Glen's useful tips and lightweight backpacking knowledge, and to learn the finer details of Gossamer Gear.

[This episode features an extended testimonial section that immediately follows the interview.]

Outstanding podcast, Reality !

It was great to hear Glen's perspective and gain a little knowledge of him on a more personal level.

He's made such an incredible contribution to the backpacking community!

His contributions really helped to get me started towards lighter weight thinking.

Glen is truly deserving of a tribute !

Thank you for your time and efforts to give the backpacking community a better idea as to who's behind the gear !

Excellent podcast Reality!!

I really loved hearing about all the products GG has to offer. I'm having a hard time deciding which pack I really want to buy. Eventually I'll have enough money buy a pack... I hope. It was very informative and Glen had some great on advice for all of it.
The best part of the podcast is the tributes at the end. Its great to hear about all of the great stuff Glen has done for the hiking community.
Thank you Glen for all you have done and thank you Reality for bringing us this amazing podcast. This one definitely gets two thumbs up!

Loved the testimonial!

I love all the podcasts and credit them for giving me the courage to get out and backpack solo.

Now you've gone and added a twist, a marvelous testimonial to Glen. It was great to hear and helped reaffirm my faith in the human race. I just love backpackers!!! Thanks, Reality, for thinking of a way to share the character of Glen Van Peski with those of us who've yet had the opportunity to meet him.

I finally found time to listen to the podcast, and was surprised to hear the comments at the end! It felt like I was attending my own funeral, with all those friends saying nice things about me! I'm sure everyone realizes there are MANY more people who have done MUCH more than I have, and have selflessly given much more of their lives for backpackers and ultralight backpacking. That is the cool thing about this community, all the involved people and sharing of ideas. Thanks, Bernie, for the treat of hearing some kind thoughts from longtime friends on THIS side of eternity!

Nice Guy

I had heard of Glen and GG (formerly GVP) products, but was still hesitant to go toward the light. A few years ago I was at Trail Days in Damascus, VA with my 3 yr. old son. My son had fallen asleep on my shoulder at lunchtime, and I was trying to balance him and some stir fry rice as I searched for a place to sit down under a tree. This tall, slim guy that I didn't know stood up and asked if I could use an extra hand. That's my impression of Glen...he's a nice guy who's willing to help folks out when he can

Check out his "Lighten Up" video, it's a nice laid back intro to lightweight backpacking. I now use a tarp, GG Mariposa pack, alcohol stove, and leave lots of unneeded items at home due to his and others examples.
