I've had a couple bad experiences with leaking water bladders and only use bottles myself. I do put hydration bladders in my grandkids' packs because they won't drink enough from a bottle but the novelty of having that giant straw causes them to imbibe more. I regularly check the shut off valves and seals on the openings on their hydration bladders to hold off any leaks. Their sleeping bags go in waterproof sacks.
