Yes, hang it higher rather than lower..get in it before you commit yourself to it ...I often have to raise the foot area ...I have a level along the line that holds the netting and have found I am most comfortable if the level shows the feet a bit higher than the head...once I'm sleeping curled up on my side, if I have it any other way, I will find myself sliding toward the foot of the hammock..
I now tie the fly separately from the body of the hammock using the same lines I use to tie it to the straps...it works better for me in rain that way... |

Another Tennessean here and I have the Expedition Asym as well. If you're very claustrophobic and the weather calls for much rain during your trip, you may want to tent for that outing. I got a bit burnt out on my Hennesy after spending 5 days in somewhat continuous rain. Plus I'm a side sleeper.
However, I found the hammock to be great in fair weather and occasional rain. I save weight by leaving the fly at home and using my 5' x 8' Integral Designs SilPoncho over the hammock. This way I get raingear and shleter for 10 oz. I add another 1 1/2 oz with four tiny little keychain carabiners that I attach to the 4 poncho corners so I can quickly rig up in the evening for shelter and de-rig for raingear use in the morning. |

I really like my HHAsym
When I first got it, it took me a few times to figure out the best way for me to be the most comfy, but now it's pretty much a breeze. I hang the foot end slightly higher than the head end. I am a side sleeper, so I sleep diagonally inside to feel the most "level"... I usually go with the hammock rather than the tent when going solo these days and my older bones are glad ! Perkolady |
