Travel Photo pack

Im planning a possible 6 week trip through thailand bali and one more possible destination. I have a canon 40D and a 17-40 F/4. Im looking to carry all my gear on my back, plus my camera. Im worried about protection and accessibility. I don't know if a perfect product exists but... Anything helps! let me know!

IF I were heading over to any of those places in South East Asia, I would consider checking out the various camera, luggage and camping/outdoorsy retailers over there on arrival ~ as they could likely have a wider range of suitable camera bags at much lower prices.

AS for the bag itself, I s'pose I'd be considering a weatherproof and sturdy chest-pack camera bag to hang off your backpack's shoulder straps..

(There are already a couple of existing threads in the photography and gear sections in here covering discussions on types and styles of bags, as well).
